TR7 Original Sprint Report ''Update'' - June 2005
This report starts off with some updates concerning these rare cars.
· John Woods
Genuine Sprint has been reunited again with the original Registration ARW181S which was transferred from this car back in 1991 on to Jag, but luckly for John Wood the owner still had the car and agreed on the
transferr back.
· Andrew Hirst is now the New Owner of the fully restored Robsport Sprint and if all works
out will be attending this years National Weekend.
· SJW 533S which is a Ex British Leyland
TR7 V8 Rally car is up for sale and most likely going to change hands shortly, this information thanks to Malcolm Paris. Also our Rally man Bert is looking into this car History.
I have been asked for help by John White to find any information on a very early TR7 Car, registration KDU
487N, he believes the car was fitted with a Don Moore Sprint Engine at the Factory and was used for a rally racce car. This car was built on 3.7.75 and the car was originally owned by Ken Wood, then by Mark Paul,
and has been owned by John White since 1985. It is in rally colours and has not been used for several years. On a positive note John is hoping to get it running and bring it to our National Weekend. Fingers crossed
someone knows of this car's history. If nothing else this must be one of the oldest TR7 in this country with a early two figure ACG number.
On the subject of the Sprint Decals I have now got a set for my Yellow Sprint from John Wood. These Sprint
Decals were designed by John Gibson from the TR Drivers club, from the Scottish group with help from a former ''Speke employee". Pictures attached of these Decals / see Ian Tinsey report for the measurements to
complete the TR7 & TR8 decal series which he has as covered over the years.
I have been contacted by Mike Collins from Rimmer Brothers which through his TR7 ownerships has owned
quiet a few of these Genuine Sprints. These include cars that are now owned by John and Chris. I will be following up a contact Mike has informed me of in the States which has a genuine LHD Sprint.
