Hi,
I have been meaning to make a contribution to the club for some time now, and have just logged on to your web site for the first time, although I have been a sleeping member for the past ten years. I first became a member after buying a TR7 V8 DHC back in '93, when I got married and wanted something a bit tasty to turn up in. I had been looking at all sorts (TVRs, Stags etc) but as soon as I saw the TR7 convertible I fell in love, and couldn't rush down the bank quick enough to draw out the necessary funds.
Since then I used the car every day for 4 years, until an accident (not my fault !) put the car in the garage, where I'm ashamed to say, due to family commitments it languished until earlier this year. 6 years off the road. Needless to say it needed a few bits doing to get it back on the road, and after three months of blood sweat and tears (oh yeah and about £8k worth of spares and respray !, thank you Rimmers and S & S preparations). I was working to a dead line, as my wife and I and some friends in a TVR, had a ferry crossing booked for a week in France. Anyway I made it and we had a great week touring France. The cars performed great and we spent the week with the hood down almost every day, visiting Le Mans, Tours and Bourdeaux to name a few.
Now back in Blighty I have a few jobs to refinish, mostly electrics, alarm, head light lifts and redoing the centre console to accommodate my sounds, anyway I logged on in an attempt to get a clue as to the wiring on the said headlight lifts.
Imagine my surprise and great pride to find my car gracing the top of your home page !! I almost welled up. The picture must have been taken by the previous owner (Adam I think, I'll check the log book) He had done all the modifications and that's what I fell in love with. Since then I have completely stripped the car and renewed just about everything, but the car still looks basically the same (better than it's ever been, even if I do say so myself !) When I finish the last bits and peices (including a retrim in leather) I'll put a more detailed report together, and who knows I might even get down to a local meet, now I've got something to turn up in. Keep up the great work, I do read the mag every issue. I have attached a picture of my pride and joy on my wedding day !!?? Ok, I admit if officer, the number plate is a bit dodgy
